Foodie by day, microwaver by night, I set out to teach my kid (and myself) the art of cooking. Read more
Follow @CookingWithKidBy day, Amy works full time as an incredibly talented art director at a boutique interactive design firm. By night, Amy entertains her kidlets with some of the most crafty projects we've ever seen. Amy's the definition of a super mom. We're so lucky she's squeezing us in to her hectic life to share some of her favorite projects with us!
In a former life, Angie worked at a big advertising agency in Chicago. Today, Angie is channeling her inner elementary school art teacher and raising two gorgeous children. She really takes crafting serioiusly, sometimes way more than than her kid which has become a learning process for both of them. Angie has found a new love for contact paper and most self-adhesive everything. She has a husband who is tired of talking about glitter and foam paper and also a younger little crafter-in-the-making, who is currently too busy confusing crayons with his pretzel sticks. Angie is as witty as she is wise and we're always excited to see what she comes up with. (Especially when it involves accessorizing!)
Corinne is the real deal. The kind of gal who knows her art. We feel cultured just being in her presence. She has both a BA and a MA in art history. Both from fancy schmancy schools. She spent several years working at LACMA and spent the past 10 years as a public art consultant. Recently, she took on a new job at the Natural History Museum where she's bringing her love of art and ability to take care of business to bear. Corinne's dream is to teach children art appreciation by exposing them to fine artists at a very young age. Through pictures, crafts and projects, Corinne has offered to take us along for the ride. It's been quite an education already!
This is Heather, our go-to baby sitter. She’s holding my baby girl. Aren’t they cute? When I first met Heather, I’d often instruct her to heat up chicken nuggets in the toaster. Shortly after she started sitting for us, she took a hostess job in one of Suzanne Goin’s restaurants and subsequently started her own food blog Three More Big Bites. That’s when I stopped suggesting nuggets and started asking Heather what kinds of things she wanted to make with the kids. Heather was full of great ideas about what she could cook with my kid and I decided to start The Savory Sitter Series. The Savory Sitter Series will be filled with baby sitter friendly recipes and ideas that guarantee a thoughtful meal will be served, even in your absence.
Recently my dear friend, Macki, started writing some of our Swell Supper posts. When it comes to getting dinner on the table, Macki is straight out of the 1950s. Night after night she manages to pull together great meals for her sweet family. This picture was taken earlier this year at a girls weekend in Chicago. Suffice it to say I had to crop the beer out of her hand. You’ll love getting to know Macki. I’m so lucky to call her a friend.
