Quick Homemade Applesauce
This morning my kid asked to make matzo brie [1]. I thought it was a great idea, but then I realized we were out of apple sauce. Instead of running out to the store, we whipped up a batch of my super easy quick homemade applesauce. This homemade applesauce recipe is ready in under 30 mins and tastes terrific when served warm. It’s the perfect complement to matzo brie [1] or tastes great on it’s own.
Prep Time: 5 mins Cooking Time: 25 mins Ingredients: Place butter in a large non-stick frying pan. Melt over medium heat and add apples and cinnamon. Saute for 5 mins. Add 1 cup of water. Let apples continue to cook until all water is absorbed. Add 1/2 cup more water and allow it to cook down again. Continue to add water (up to 2 cups total) until the apples are soft and tender. Transfer apples to a blender and add agave. Be sure to leave room at top of blender for steam to escape – you may need to do it in two batches. Blend for a few minutes until apples become sauce consistency. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve immediately. Serves 4.
4 apples (peeled, cored and diced large)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 to 2 tablespoons agave
1 1/2 to 2 cups water
